I am so confused right now I can't think straight.  Even when working or boxing.  I cut my finger the other day, and it's not so bad, but usually I handle the knives better than that...

... I think I like her, and then I think more about my secret admirer, and I feel kinda bad for going on and on about this unknown person when I have someone else I think I like but what if she doesn't like me --

... wait, she kissed me at the... onsen... so I guess not liking me is out of the question.  Phew... oh...

... but jeez, a bed full of roses really leaves an impression, you know?  Aaaugh, I don't even know who my admirer is.  Why should it even come down to comparing the two of them!?!

I dunno; my explanation seems to explain everything.

If everyone has developed the power to read my mind, that would totally explain why everyone always knows what I'm thinking, and since this place does weird stuff like turn people into ducks or children or switch or bodies, it's certainly possible that something so weird could happen!

I believe you're mistaken. If another person can read minds then usually I cannot hear their thoughts. Which would mean I wouldn't be able to hear everyones thoughts anymore if they had suddenly developed the ability to mind read. The only difference is that your thoughts have been coming in much louder.
